I had visions of effortlessly whipping up plates of fresh fruit and delicate finger foods beforehand—cucumber sandwiches, anyone? But even the most peppy morning risers will be fumbling their way to live viewing parties in the wee hours of the morning (if you're in California, bless you). There's just no easy way to pull off a full spread for the intrepid fans who are joining me to celebrate the event, but that doesn't mean breakfast should be blegh. It's a party, after all!

I'm utilizing a host's most essential cooking strategy—make-ahead items. All of the items that I'm making can be assembled on Friday night, or they can be prepped days in advance to be simply heated up right before I hop on the couch.

These delicious recipes are just one more reason to start the day right while cheering on Harry and Meghan as they get hitched this Saturday, May 19, at 7 a.m. EST.

1) Chocolate-Cherry Scones

Is it even a royal wedding party without scones? This iconic British breakfast staple is lightened considerably using a very simple homemade biscuit mix. You can reheat them just before the event kicks off—and pair them with a delicious brewed tea.
